Standard and Toy Manchester Terriers
Manchester Terriers are active, energetic with above average intelligence and true terrier spirit. The breed is affectionate and makes an exceptionally loyal companion and are best suited as an integral part of the family. The Manchester Terrier is keenly observant, very responsive to his owner and may be discerning or reserved towards strangers.
The Manchester Terrier originated in England and is the oldest terrier breed. They were extremely poplar during the Victorian times for the now illegal sport of rat baiting. The Standard variety was the original Manchester Terrier. The Toy variety was bred down from the Standard variety.
Manchesters are very playful and bond very strongly with their family. They need interaction and are not a breed to be left home alone all day long. They want to be part of your life. They are incredible watch dogs and will alert you to someone around your home before you even know about it.
